Drunk Dalgona
The Drunk Dalgona AKA Boozy Whipped Coffee. Vienna roast instant coffee is whipped with equal parts sugar and hot water to form perfect clouds of caffeine. Served over non-dairy vanilla oatmilk with Kahlúa, Vodka, and a sprinkle of cocoa powder, and you’ve got the ultimate caffeinated cocktail to get you through this quaratine!

I saw a meme the other day that said, “Days are now divided by coffee hours and alcohol hours, there is no other law” and honestly, I have never related to a meme more in my entire life. Besides running and cooking, it seems as if the only other two things keeping me sane are coffee and alcohol, so I figured, f*ck it. Might as well combine the two. And that’s how this beautiful Drunk Dalgona came to fruition.

what is a dalgona?
A dalgona is basically just whipped coffee. It’s equal parts instant coffee (yes, it HAS to be instant), sugar (any kind will do), and hot water whipped until fluffy caffeinated clouds are formed. This clouded coffee drink became viral on TikTok, and is said to have originated in South Korea. While I definitely did not start the trend with Dalgona coffee, I’m in utter shock that I have yet to see a recipe for a boozy version!
how to make a drunk dalgona
Depending on whether you’re whipping it by hand or with a stand mixer, my Drunk Dalgona takes just a few minutes to prepare. It’s literally as easy as 1-2-3! Here’s how to do it!
- Whip equal parts instant coffee, sugar of choice, and hot water in a bowl until stiff peaks are formed. If you’re whipping by hand, this takes about 20 minutes. If you’re using a hand-mixer or stand-mixer, it only takes about 3-5 minutes.
- Assemble your drink. Once you’ve got stiff peaks, pack a glass with ice. Add your non-dairy vanilla creamer, vodka, and Kahlúa. Top with your whipped coffee and sprinkle with a bit of cocoa powder!
- Enjoy! Give it a good mix with a straw or spoon to get all the ingredients incorporated and then take a train to caffeinated boozy-ville!

- 2 TBS instant coffee
- 2 TBS sugar of choice
- 2 TBS hot water
- 6 oz vanilla flavored non-dairy creamer
- 1.5 oz Kahlúa
- 1 oz vodka
- Cocoa powder, for serving
- Combine instant coffee, hot water, and sugar in a bowl. Using a hand-mixer or stand-mixer, whip until stiff peaks are formed. Set aside.
- Pack a 12 oz glass with ice
- Pour in non-dairy creamer, followed by Kahlúa and vodka. Top with whipped coffee and a sprinkle of cocoa powder.
- Mix all the ingredients together with a spoon or straw and enjoy!
2. If you don't have a hand-mixer or stand-mixer, you can use a coffee frother or whisk it by hand. If so, it takes about 20 minutes to whisk until stiff peaks are formed.
